[学习交流]学英语需要掌握多少词汇量？

　　　　　　英语是世界上5000多种语言中词汇最丰富的语言之一。同时，英语的词汇变化日新月异。一个人即使穷尽一生，也无法记忆所有的英语词汇。其实，每个人需要掌握的词汇量总是有限的。根据语言学家统计：学会常用的2000个词，就能理解89%左右的内容；学会常用的3000个词，就能理解93%的内容；学会常用的4000个词，就能理解95%左右的内容（美国大学对外国学生的英语要求是掌握4000个词）；学会常用的5000个词，就能理解97%左右的内容。
　　　　
　　　　　　我认为一个人的词汇量可以分为四个层次，掌握的数量依次递减：能说的词汇（speaking vocabulary）、能写的词汇（writing vocabulary）、能读的词汇（reading vocabulary）和能猜的词汇（guess vocabulary）。前两个层次属于能够应用的积极词汇（active vocabulary），后两个层次属于不一定能够应用的消极词汇（passive vocabulary）。英语学习者往往会遇到这样的情况：许多单词看见是能猜出意思，到要讲和写的时候却想不起来，就是这个道理。本文来自英语之家

　　i tell u what, u can know more than 10000 words meanings but hard to master 1000 words entirely,even a native speaker cannot do that/Generally speaking,u should know more than 10000,and can master 500-1000 verbs to express yourself!but it depends,People with strong expression abilities can not be recognized as how many he should know and master.it largely rely on how he feel with the language!

　　猜的词汇应该是指阅读的时候碰上的！
　　我很少背单词，所以有时候能说不能写，入睡前通常看些简单的英文小短文，对于没有时间集中学英语的朋友，这不失一个好方法！

　　i don't agree.
　　中国英汉大词典附有一单词自测表，根据它所说，要掌握7000--8000单词，才能达到受过中等教育水平的人听说读写能力。我觉得它是对的。4000个词连报纸都大部分看不懂，不信去看看CHINA DAILY。
